Andrew Shikiar is the CEO & Executive Director at FIDO Alliance, a global consortium working to eliminate the world’s dependence on passwords through creation of open standards for simpler, stronger user authentication. He has been involved in the identity management sector since 2001 and also serves as an advisor to digital identity consultancy Liminal and early-stage VC firm 1414 Ventures. Shikiar has deep experience with multi-stakeholder organizations, having previously led market development efforts for Tizen Association and the Liberty Alliance Project.
Shikiar has helped drive awareness and adoption of a variety of emerging technologies. Managerial roles at Sun Microsystems included PR and marketing leadership for the company's Java and identity management initiatives at their inception. Andrew was a founding executive at Radical Communication, an early entrant in the interactive email & analytics market, and also served as VP of Marketing & Business Development for machine learning pioneer BigML.

Many of the tools for multifactor authentication (MFA) have become less effective over the last few years, as cyber criminals and fraudsters have found new ways to bypass and circumvent them. Retailers are looking for new ways to address these vulnerabilities, protect customer and employee information, and authenticate account information. This session will discuss the current state of identity management in retail and opportunities to use new methods and tools to address these challenges.
