Kelly Brandes


Director, Loss Prevention
Kelly has worked in retail Loss Prevention for over 38 years. While attending Bethel University in St Paul Minnesota, he started working as a part time store security officer at a local Target to help pay for tuition. He had no idea it would turn into a career and move him all over the country.

Shortly after graduating from Bethel with a degree in Sociology, he moved to Los Angeles to assist in opening that new market for Target. In his time at Target, he worked in varying levels of field leadership in the Twin Cities, Los Angeles, Miami and Kansas City. Towards the end of his time with Target, he also worked two years at headquarters within the Asset Protection Operations team developing and giving input into programs and ideas for the field.

In 2007, Kelly joined Cub as the Director of Loss Prevention. Cub is a regional grocery chain in Minnesota and is owned by Supervalu. In 2014, Kelly was promoted to Director of Loss Prevention for Supervalu Retail which includes 5 regional grocery banners.

Kelly is a founding member and on the Board of Directors for Twin Cities Organized Retail Crime Association (TCORCA). TCORCA has quickly grown into an impactful ORCA that puts on an annual conference, quarterly intelligence sharing meetings and hosts regular training meetings on industry topics. He is also a member of ASIS and is involved in the local Minnesota chapter.
