James came from journalism to retail innovation by way of digital brand storytelling for the likes of Triumph Motorcycles. As GDR’s SVP of Global Innovation, sharing his time between the US and the UK, his passion is problem-solving; how big brands and retailers can navigate the omni-channel revolution, develop the store of the future, excel at storytelling in an age of platformisation, invest sensibly in technology and the move towards automation, succeed in place-making and employ the power of co-creation for brands of the future.

James gives around 100 presentations a year to senior teams globally including Microsoft, Under Armour, Clorox, P&G, Conagra, Royal Caribbean, Hilton and Samsung, among others. His global perspective is informed by the London-based team of GDR researchers, insight developers and innovation consultants. He presented to great acclaim at the National Grocery Association Conference in Las Vegas in Feb 2018 and at the NRF Protect conference in June 2018. His style is informal and inspirational, with a British twist.
