Asset Protection Training & Development Manager

The Winn-Dixie Company

Dani Perez is the Training and Development Manager for Asset Protection at The Winn-Dixie Company (TWDC). In her role, she leads learning and development strategies that strengthen leadership capability, support operational execution, and help shape a culture of safety, accountability, and adaptability across the organization.

Dani brings a background in education, curriculum development, and organizational learning, including experience working with globally distributed teams at Google to improve collaboration and performance. Her work has centered on helping teams navigate communication, learning, and change in high-pressure and remote environments.

Dani’s approach is grounded in the understanding that learning, change, and emotional experience are neurologically intertwined, and that effective development works with that reality rather than against it. She focuses on translating that insight into practical application, helping leaders turn knowledge into action through coaching, practice, and real-world experience.

She is currently finalizing her PhD in Learning Science, focused on how thinking, emotion, and social connection influence how people perform, adapt, and grow in real-world environments.

Adapting LP Strategies to a multi‑generational workforce

Retailers are adapting LP strategies to account for generational differences in technology adoption, communication preferences and expectations around psychological safety and culture.

Younger retail workers show significantly different safety and reporting behaviors, including a strong preference for anonymous reporting and a higher level of discomfort when it comes to confronting aggressive customers. Older workers tend to prefer legacy processes, are slower to adopt and adapt to new technologies, and tend to view surveillance differently. Is there a method for juggling generational dynamics.
