Dan Hughes is the Vice President of Security and Emergency Services at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California. He is responsible for the oversight and execution of Security Operations, Security Investigations, Intelligence, Backgrounds, Community Watch, Guest First Aid, Fire Department, Emergency Preparedness, and Emergency Response services related to all areas of the resort. The resort includes two theme parks, three hotels totaling 2,500 guest rooms, 200,000 square feet of convention space, 49 retail, dining, and entertainment venues, 20,000 vehicle parking capacity on both guest and employee lots, three off-site warehouses, and an off-site stable. The resort operates 365 days a year, is a 24-hour operation executed by 30,000 employees, and on a peak day can see a guest count of 110,000. Dan works closely with the Anaheim Police Department, Anaheim Fire Department, and various other local, state, and federal law enforcement partners, including FBI and the United States Secret Service. Dan has been with the Disneyland Resort since 2016.

Prior to joining The Walt Disney Company, Dan had a 32-year career in law enforcement with the Fullerton Police Department. He worked his way through the ranks and spent his last four years with the department as Chief of Police before retiring.

Dan earned his master’s degree in Emergency Services Administration and his bachelor’s degree in Occupational Studies from California State University at Long Beach. He earned his associate’s degree in Administration of Justice from Fullerton College in California.

Dan sits on the board of several community organizations including the Fullerton Boys & Girls Clubs and O.C. United. Dan enjoys spending time with his wife, three children, and one grandchild, all of whom live in Southern California. Dan also enjoys playing basketball and is an avid Clippers fan.
