Catherine Riccards is the Director of Investigations for Barnes and Noble. Prior to joining Barnes and Noble in May, she was the Senior Director of Investigations and Business Conduct for HBC, which includes Hudson’s Bay, Saks Fifth Avenue, Off Fifth, Lord and Taylor and Gilt. She began her career in retail loss prevention in 2009 as the Sr. Director of Professional Standards at Saks Fifth Avenue and took on expanded responsibility with HBC in 2014 and oversaw the company’s investigative program and advised on business conduct and ethical issues.

Prior to joining Saks, Catherine worked for City of New York and held various positions including Special Counsel for the New York City Department of Investigation where she was responsible for investigating fraud and abuse of City resources and preparing those cases for prosecution by Federal and State authorities. Additionally, she also worked as an Assistant Corporation Counsel in Brooklyn Family Court where she prosecuted nearly 1000 cases, including Attempted Murder and Robbery in the 1st degree.

Catherine is a graduate of Tulane Law School and has a B.A. and B.S. from Ohio University. She has also been a Certified Fraud Examiner since 2007.
