I have been a San Diego prosecutor for 32 years and have been blessed to work with law enforcement heroes all this time. We share a common mission: to protect our citizens. We share a common vision. Working with our retail partners, we can make our vision a reality...families shopping together during the holidays with plenty of product on the shelves: fragrances, jeans, power tools, Legos, and Victoria's Secret for that special someone.
We welcome tourists to San Diego, but not the ORC kind. Since the enactment of Penal Code section 490.4, my office has prosecuted over 100 felony cases with that charge. All of our convictions have been by guilty plea, not jury trial. Our defendants have been sentenced to state prison, local prison, or felony probation, according to their criminal history and level of criminal conduct. In San Diego, we regularly prosecute multi-county ORC crews, using conspiracy theory law to bring in thefts from outside San Diego.
My partner is DA Investigator Richard Anderson. You can meet him at the Fusion Center on Wednesday. Even with 42 years in law enforcement, he still wakes up every morning hoping to catch a bad guy. Most days, his dream comes true. Together, we accept cases from CHP, law enforcement agencies, and sometimes directly from our retail partners. Oh yeah, we have also won some cool awards, including ORC Prosecutor of the Year from CRA and Cal ORCA, the Nelson Harrah award from SDORCA, and also a Homer award from The Home Depot. We look forward to working with any and all of you in the future, if we can be of service.
